Harry Nelson

Practice Leader-Risk and Regulation

What does your role involve at RX4?

As an experienced healthcare lawyer and managing partner of Nelson Hardiman — the second-largest boutique healthcare law firm in California and the only one to receive a Top Tier rating from U.S. News/Best Lawyers in each year of their annual ratings survey — I know that healthcare providers need to be attentive to sound governance and business operations, as well as compliant with a wide array of laws and regulations that are constantly undergoing change. My role is to be alert to what’s needed on a constant basis and bring options and solutions to the client’s table. My work revolves around, at a minimum, ensuring that compliance is straightforward and not a burden, and whenever possible aligning compliance with strategic goals.

What do you bring most to the work that you do?

I combine cutting-edge healthcare industry expertise with a deep understanding of federal and state healthcare regulations. I put my knowledge and experience to work guiding healthcare companies of all sizes and types in navigating healthcare regulatory compliance risks and business opportunities.

What is your greatest passion in life?

I collect single malt whiskeys with a focus on Islay distilleries. I try hard to inculcate my 4 children into a love of the Detroit professional sports teams of my childhood. I also alternate between reading crime/mystery fiction and books about leadership and business management. In my spare time, I chair several nonprofit boards and devote significant time to counseling nonprofit CEOs on organizational development. I also recently embarked on an effort to visit every national park.

What is your favorite movie/TV series and why?

My favorite movies are varied according to my eclectic tastes, but include Monty Python’s Life of Brian, Flirting with Disaster, and Groundhog Day. However, my family often gives me a hard time about getting choked up over Field of Dreams and Hoosiers.
